Building the Future - Growing and Expanding

Anticipating the West Valley's phenomenal growth, the Maricopa Community Colleges purchased land in 1982 for a future community college. This 105-acre parcel would become the future site of Estrella Mountain Community College.

Estrella Mountain's original Facilities Master Plan provided the foundation for Phase I. Successful passage of the 1984 Maricopa Community Colleges bond initiative provided the funding necessary for the colleges grand opening in 1992. Estrella Mountain quickly established itself as an integral community resource and continued to plan for the future. With financial support provided from the 1994 bond initiative, EMCC completed Phase II, bringing new facilities and additional programmatic resources to the West Valley.

Estrella Mountain has since increased its original land parcel, and approximately 36 of the college's 135 acres have been developed to date. Having recently updated its Facilities Master Plan, the college knows there is much more that can be done. With community support, Estrella Mountain anxiously looks forward to bringing additional resources, education and training opportunities, and expanded locations to meet the increasing demands of student growth in Western Maricopa County.
