Success Behavior Check Sheet

Successful behavior often begins with the recognition of personal goals, strengths, and weaknesses. Provided below are fifteen identified behaviors which can help in achieving academic success. One can use this list as a check sheet for monitoring successful behaviors.  

  1. Identify your goals, strengths, and weaknesses.
  1. Identify your campus “help” resources to build on your strengths and work on overcoming your weaknesses.
  1. Arrange text and required materials before classes meet.
  1. Build a study plan, including when and how much you’ll need to study to meet your goals.
  1. Go to every class.
  1. Sit in the front row and keep your mind actively on your learning goals, as well as those of the instructor and the course.
  1. Take good notes, and use them to identify questions of importance to you.
  1. Actively develop questions about course content to clarify your understanding.
  1. Participate in class discussions, to try out your own understanding of concepts and to raise questions of importance to you.
  1. Study with a study partner, going over key points, clarifying difficult areas and discussing Points that might come up on the exam.
  1. Build a study plan for tests.
  1. Don’t miss quizzes or tests.
  1. Hand in assignments on time.
  1. Hand in assignments that are neat and legible.
  1. Use your campus “help” resources through the term, not just before important tests.
