It is a great honor to serve as 2009/2010 Chapter President for Beta Alpha Xi. As your President, one of my goals is to work with my fellow officers to inspire member involvement. The more members involved makes a bigger impact and much more fun! Another goal is to include the PTK hallmarks: Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Fellowship in all our projects. This guarantees we are working on projects we can be proud of! I will also help coordinate our chapter's efforts with Arizona Region projercts as Vice-President of Fundraising for the Region, an office to which I was elected on March 1.

My full name Is Amauchechukwu (Amuche) Ononenyi and I am studying to become a medical doctor. By the spring of 2010, I will be transferring to N.A.U. for a nursing degree. After that, I will move on to medical school. I came from Nigeria and living in such a tough society taught me that the only way to make dreams happen is to work your hardest no matter what life throws at you.
As your VP of Leadership, I want to go to area high schools and host seminars where I present what Phi Theta Kappa is and the unlimited opportunities that joining offers. I also want to encourage more members to consider chapter leadership through the Deputy Officer Program where they can learn from existing officers about their roles and responsibilities. Phi Theta Kappa can deliver more valuable benefits the more engaged members are, and I hope to you work with us as an active member.

As Co-VP of Scholarship, I hope to encourage andrecognize academic excellence while developing activities that will relate to the Honors Study Topic - The Paradox of the Affluence: Choices, Consequences, and Challenges. I also hope to increase our chapter's participation in the Honors Satellite Seminar Series. |

As VP of Service I will take great pleasures in finding and organizing Community Service Events we can do as a chapter. Some examples of service I have personally done include: 3 year team leader for the MS Walk raising over $5000 dollars, 2 year volunteer for Big Brother's Club of NH, Christmas caroling at Senior facilities, organized a 5 night hotel "staycation" program for 5 homeless families in NH over Christmas week and constant help at soup kitchens, just to name a few. I look forward to your suggestions of services you would like to see us do. Email your thoughts to me or share them in person at a chapter meeting.

This is my second semester at Estrella Mountain Community College and both semesters I have been heavily involved with Phi Theta Kappa. I was elected in March to serve as VP of Communications for the Arizona Region of Phi Theta Kappa and hope to compliment that role as Chapter Communications Officer. I will work coordinating Google calendars and email communication at both the statewide and chapter level so that members can stay fully informed about all Phi Theta Kappa has in store for the coming year. We can have a powerful impact on our communities and our world if we stay connected and work together to meet our goals.
