  LSC Information

History

The Learning Enhancement Center (LEC) is our oldest branch and has been in existence since the opening of EMCC in 1992.  The Science Support Center (SSC) was opened in September of 1999, when the Montezuma building expansion was completed.  The Math & Writing Center (MWC), our newest addition, opened in January, 2000.  The MWC has now become the center of operations for EMCC's Learning Support Centers.

Mission

The Learning Support Centers at EMCC provide supportive, collaborative, and knowledgeable academic assistance to students, faculty, and staff.

Philosophy

The Learning Support Centers at EMCC provide free instructional support to students attend the college.  This service is to assist students with learning various strategies that promote academic success.  It is our belief that these services should enhance a student's development of cognitive and problem-solving skills that will assist them in becoming independent learners.  Furthermore, we believe that these skills can serve as basic tools that a students can use throughout their lives.
